“Tobias Melcher is destined for a very bright future in music. His already formidable skills are nurtured by his inquisitive spirit, his ability to rapidly take in new information and a personality which is caring and inclusive. Tobias has been an absolute pleasure to work with and I look forward to watching his career take hold in the coming years.”

Projects

The "Skylark Quartet" is a collective group made up of members with already notoriety in the Swiss and international jazz scene.

The band plays an altogether jazz style contaminated by Mediterranean sounds. The project wants to reaffirm the importance of the melody supported by a completely tonal harmony, thus proposing a music of impact and quality, accessible to any type of audience.

Patrick Joray - saxophone
Tobias Melcher - bass
Marton Juhasz - drums

Stepping in the tradition of the drumless piano trio, Watanabe and his companions celebrate the incredible work of musicians like Nat King Cole, Ahmad Jamal and Art Tatum among others.

The Trio explores a wide variety of textures within this chamber-music-like setting. The tight arrangements shine through rhythmic guitar parts, driving bass lines and the virtuosity of Watanabe's piano playing.

Nobuo Watanabe Trio

Nobuo Watanabe - piano
Dominik Simon - guitar
Tobias Melcher - bass

The quintet formed around the young saxophonist Patrick Joray and consists of well-known musicians from the Swiss jazz scene as well as newcomers from the international jazz scene.

The five musicians are united by their love and passion for the American jazz tradition and they know how to skillfully incorporate the language of jazz into their playing.

When two different generations meet, musical dialogues are created at the highest level, in which new inspiration is always drawn from the combination of tradition and modernity.

The music of Solemn devotes itself to melancholia, in its vast possible interpretations and expressions.

Influenced by modern jazz and XX-century classical music, the compositions care deeply for melodies often lyrical and strong harmonies, evolving on long unusual song structures.

These musical poems leave space for improvised solos where the virtuosity of the quartet can overcome the intimate frame of the composition.
